Expenses

Anyone who has paid in advance for the institute and would like to have their money reimbursed can find the form on the Intranet focus:INSIDE "Auslagenerstattung"

Library

Our institute library is located in the lecture hall. The books in the glass cabinet can be borrowed. The key for the cupboard is available at the secretary's office. There is also a list of the entire book stock, which can be viewed online. Many books are also in handsets at other locations. The locations are also noted in the book list.

Data storage

  • Basically all original data (measurements, reports, graphs, photos, drawings, construction, etc.) should be saved to the respective data folder of the projects or working groups.
  • Which data folders the respective data should be saved to should be discussed with the group leaders. The access rights to the data server assigned by the group leaders are set up by Sebastian Freidank (Tel. 3214) and Veit Danicke (Tel. 3285)

Advantage: Regular backups every 4h working day - shared use within the workgroup A loss of data in case of defect or theft of the used computers can be easily fixed. Even an accidental deletion of a file can be undone.

Avoidance of unnecessary data stock in the backup system

By keeping the backup sets for a period of 12 months, care should be taken when changing existing data to avoid unnecessary renaming of large data sets.

Example: There is a measurement dataset from February 1st with a size of 100 GB which is quickly saved with the note "Measurement 1". (This dataset will use 100 GB after 4 hours in the backup). The next day the data set will be renamed to " Measurements of the setup for the analysis of the energy distribution". The backup system will recognize a new file and will use 100 GB in the backup again without deleting the dataset "Measurement 1".

  • Do not unnecessarily rename/move large data sets once they are in the backup. If in doubt, please contact Sebastian or Veit.
To exchange records (even large ones), use the Exchange folder on the shared FREE drive. This folder is not backed up (the drive is) and therefore the backup will not overflow.
  • Alternatively, a folder <no_backup> can be created at any place in the file system. All data below this folder will not be considered for backups

Personal directories

The users' personal directories (home) are intended for backups of the workstation, so these directories are not backed up by default.
Private computers

A limited (number of) DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) area is set up in the BMO subnet for the time-limited use (< 6 months) of private notebooks. Computers permanently operated in the BMO network must be registered with Norbert Koop or Veit Danicke in order to assign them a fixed IP address.

Technical details

A 19" NAS system (Network Attached Storage) is available for central data storage. There are 10 SATA hard disks of 3 Terabyte (TB) each installed in a Raid 6 network, so that a storage space of approx. 21.8 TB is available. This was extended by an additional module (max. 2 possible) with currently 8 HDD (max. 12 possible) a 4TB (currently also 21.8TB).

The volume is currently divided into 4 storage areas:

    Project data (backed up),
    personal directories (home),
    OCT-Temp
    AG Huber (backed up

The backup is done every 4 hours on weekdays between 8:00 and 20:00 o'clock by a snapshot of the project drives on a separate computer. All data changed since the last backup is backed up - for identical files, the previous backup is referred to

The strategy allows access

to the (4-)hourly backups of the last two days
to one backup per day for 10 days
to one backup per week for the last 8 weeks
to one backup per month for the last 6 months.

Infoboard-Homepage

In the foyer, next to the secretariat, there is an information board with photos of all employees of the BMO and MLL. In order for guests of the Institute to find staff members quickly, it is important to us to keep the board up to date. We are happy if photos of new employees of the Institute appear there at short notice. Therefore, please send a photo, preferably in digital form, to the secretary's office bianka.pohlmann(at)uni-luebeck.de.

For employees with a contract with the BMO, we would also like to place this photo on the BMO homepage. Please sign a declaration of consent (next to standing), which is also available at the secretary's office.

IT-Netzzugang

Coffee

Coffee is important to us!

In the foyer there is a large coffee machine accessible to everyone.

A simple rule: Whoever empties a coffee pot, replenishes a new pot! The same rule applies to coffee powder and milk. The last person to consume anything is the one who gets a refill from the supply cupboard in room 23.

To ensure that there are always enough supplies, the coffee pot must always be full! The KaKoZe (Coffee Competence Center) is located in Bianka Pohlmann's secretary's office, takes care of purchasing and manages the cash register. For a maximum of 5.00 € per month, you can have coffee until you drop. As a rule, payments are made on a quarterly basis. Guests feed the coffee pig with 20,00 Cent per cup.

Kitchen service

Kitchen duties include putting dishes in the dishwasher, cleaning the work surfaces of the kitchen unit and the side table and clearing the dishwasher.

The kitchen service is assigned by Ms. Pohlmann (secretariat) and is staffed by two people each. With the exception of the group leaders and the colleagues from the outbuilding, all of them are assigned to the kitchen service on a rotating basis.

Laboratories

For safety in the laboratories, it is important to become familiar with the safety regulations and rules of conduct before starting the first work there. For the biological laboratories, please arrange an introduction appointment with PD Dr. Ramtin Rahmanzadeh.

For the laser safety in the laboratories, please contact the person responsible for lasers in the individual rooms.

media technology

Report all media technology faults to the following e-mail address: medientechnik(at)itsc.uni-luebeck.de

Poster Printing

The printing of a poster is carried out by the IT Service Centre and costs between € 10.00 and € 15.00 per item. To print a poster, please fill in the adjacent form. Click here for further information on the Posterdruck.

Repairs

If, for example, a lamp is defective or a window does not close properly, a message must be sent by e-mail to the secretariat. Please also describe what exactly is defective and indicate the room number and part of the building. The floor plans are available by link.

If a unit is defective, please inform the responsible project manager. Include the name and date with the notification and describe the defect exactly.

Key Issue

The entrance, office and laboratory keys are issued by Mrs. Pohlmann (secretary's office), for which a deposit of 50.00 Euros must be left with her.

Telefon

There is a telephone in all rooms of the institute, which can be used for internal conversations.
The university IT Service Centre (ITSC) takes care of the telephone system.
The telephone number header of the University of Lübeck is 3101, followed by a four-digit extension number. The detailed instructions for CISCO telephones here:
