Light for Life

Research focus

  1. Exploration and in vivo evaluation of new diagnostic imaging techniques such as optical coherence tomography (OCT), intravital multi-photon microscopy and photoacoustic tomography.
  2. Exploration of the interaction of pulsed laser radiation with tissue by linear and nonlinear absorption (plasma formation), plasmonic effects of nanoparticles, and antibody-mediated photochemical effects in terms of new selective therapeutic procedures as well as nano surgery of cells and tissues.
  3. Combination of in situ imaging and diagnostics with therapeutical applications.
  4. Application of the above methods for minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery of internal organs, tumor therapy, selective retina therapy, as well as for refractive corneal surgery and cataract surgery.
