Light for Life
Research focus
- Exploration and in vivo evaluation of new diagnostic imaging techniques such as optical coherence tomography (OCT), intravital multi-photon microscopy and photoacoustic tomography.
- Exploration of the interaction of pulsed laser radiation with tissue by linear and nonlinear absorption (plasma formation), plasmonic effects of nanoparticles, and antibody-mediated photochemical effects in terms of new selective therapeutic procedures as well as nano surgery of cells and tissues.
- Combination of in situ imaging and diagnostics with therapeutical applications.
- Application of the above methods for minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery of internal organs, tumor therapy, selective retina therapy, as well as for refractive corneal surgery and cataract surgery.
